Heritage Plans Recognition Gala Earning University Client Generous Contribution
Food and Beverage
The Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) department at Virginia Tech wanted to honor a hospitality industry icon and longstanding VT faculty member for their lifetime achievements, in front of an audience of 250 meeting and event professionals, many of whom were executives of leading hospitality companies. When planning such a high-profile event while hours away from the venue proved challenging, Heritage was brought on to put boots on the ground and ease the stress.
Heritage started with understanding the big picture and worked with Virginia Tech to develop specific goals and objectives for the gala. Of utmost importance was a user-friendly event website and online registration system, as past systems used for department events had proved clunky and old-fashioned. Heritage implemented a sleek website and comprehensive registration platform capable of collecting and analyzing attendee data.
Another critical element was the coordination of multiple VIPs participating in the event, including C-level executives of notable global hospitality organizations. Heritage organized travel and lodging for the VIPs and worked with their teams to create cohesive video and live presentations to be delivered during the event.
After a successful gala, the HTM department received a generous multi-million-dollar contribution from the honoree and in-turn renamed the department in his honor. Both the gala and the announcement of the contribution and renaming of the program earned the internationally-ranked department of HTM considerable mentions in the media.
